The Medical Physics program at Lund University is a 5-year program in the Faculty of Science, given in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Region Skåne. The first two years cover fundamental physics and mathematics, while the latter part of the program focus on medical radiation physics, with emphasis on the clinical orientation towards diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Many teachers are clinically active Medical Physicists, and most laboratory exercises are carried out using state-of-the-art equipment in the hospital. The last year of the program includes clincal practice and an individual Master Thesis project. To work as a Medical Physicist in Sweden you need a licence, which is issued by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare after completed exam. If you already have a degree in Physics (at least a B.Sc. or similar), it may be possible to apply directly to the latter part of the program, please contact the department for more information.

Credit Transfer

As a student, you are entitled to apply for transfer of credits from previous studies. This applies to studies completed both in Sweden and abroad, including exchange studies. For your application to be reviewed at the Faculty of Science, you must be admitted to and currently studying at the faculty. The rules governing credit transfer are to be found in Chapter 6, Sections 6–8 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Your application consists of a form together with documents/qualifications. Remember to apply in good time for your credit transfer. The processing of your application may take up to eight weeks.
